Serving People Living With A Brain Injury & Their Families In Northern BC

Brain Injury Education For Professionals

Brain Injury Education For ProfessionalsIt is important that all health and human service professionals understand brain injury, including signs, symptoms and available rehabilitative methods. The critical point is providing the best service possible to survivors of brain injuries. The Northern Brain Injury Association helps professionals learn how to best assist survivors in order to lead satisfying and productive lives.  We conduct workshops,  create and distribute guides and manuals, and post current related news and articles on the Northern Brain Injury Association Facebook page.

Health care professionals responsible for assisting survivors in northern British Columbia have repeatedly asked the Northern Brain Injury Association for assistance. So, in addition to materials and workshops already provided, we conducted a survey of Northern Health Authority professionals working in Mental Health and Addictions in Quesnel, Mackenzie, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson and Terrace, to better determine their needs, and provide the most efficient education delivery model to assist them.

As a result of the survey, the Northern Brain Injury Association identified keys areas of interest in brain injury education for professionals in the north. It was initially thought that ‘webinars’ would be the best education model, but after careful consideration, it was determined that videos are a superior. The Northern Brain Injury Association has since begun creating and producing an entire series of instructional videos, each specific to a topic or issue common to brain injury. Here are the first two:
